Hi Fred,

This is really a personal preference. On 48 volts the pie II will go up to 24-25 mph max!

On 60 volts it will do 32 mph, however if you use GM controllers your battery should have less volts than that straight off the charger, as they support 60 volts max!

the controller between 40-50 amps is good, 60 volts is a really addictive!

The battery should be an A123, they should be capable of feeding the Pie, LiPo is fantastic, but it's too complicated to use without a bms, there is no suitable user friendly bms yet that is reliable and LiPo is dangerous if misused.

An A123 will cost you at least 550 Dollars before shipping for a 10ah pack!

If you want PM me and I'll give you the details of where you can get one!

Mark

maybe contact cell_man: emissions-free_worldwide(at)hotmail.com

He does retail the Macs, and also genuine a123 batteries and packs, and does match cell resistances for a good balanced pack
Many of the endless-sphere guys have dealt with him so reputation is gained by history if that makes sense...he has been a great help to me

regards

Super powerful 5amp charger ? I nearly wet myself reading that one!  ;D

The size of that bms in that big plastic box OMG!!!

PIng batteries would be much better than those duct tape Vpower batteries that so many people have problems with!

Golden Motor now use Larger cells in there 24v 36v & 48v LiFePO4 Battery Packs for Electric Bikes this
means reliability and it makes possible for BMS to manage and protect each cell individually. The new LiFePO4 Battery Packs are ratted at C3 Continuous Discharge Current: 30A = 48v  36A = 36v = 24v
I have found that the new Larger cell Battery Packs are much better than the older type with blue and orange 4amp round cells :o
In the old battery packs The BMS controlled groups of 3 or 4  4amp cells in parallel not individually   :o

Hi Who42,

Are you saying all the Lifepo4 packs GM has now have a 3C discharge rate? I did not know that, that is very interesting.
