converting a dawes galaxy to lecky on front wheel.. does front fitment of majic pie on fairly skinny forks require torque arms / arms

I would recommend at least one torque arm (but ideally two) should be fitted.

here she is again, fixed gear/freewheel, dawes galaxy, 16lbs as it is. ordered my kit today 1000w majic pie, gonna make some substantial front fork torque arms, I recon she will fly !!

the wheel is still going to be 700c, so yes on tyres. battery is going on a seatpost rack. good thought on batteries, fill  it right up, land speed record here we come

Those seem kinda thin. Im sure they could handle mini motors, but a Magic Pie I don't know. A motor of that weight and power really needs something more beefy like this.




This may be a bit of overkill, but they are strong and wont break. I ran a 48 volt pie in these for about 6 months and they gave a great feeling of confidence.

yes, there is some dought in my mind but as said I will make or have made some good torque arms. they will be in the form of a channel, that wrap around forks around 6 inches long. different forks is an option i,m looking into but they will not be suspension ones. my forks may look weak but they are reynolds steel tubing and surprisingly stiff.

You need at least 100mm width between the fork ends and also at least 80mm further up the fork arms so that the pie will fit (although the pie is 60mm thick). Bear in mind that it is likely that your spindle will be at least slightly off centre (not sure if this is to allow for the disk). This might cause you trouble with the thin forks of your's - I think you might be stressing them too much with a Magic Pie albeit steel.

The other thing you might find with static forks is an uncomfortable ride!
