Originally purchases through Arizona E bikes .......     http://www.arizonaebikes.com/shop/article_GM-1000R-48/Golden-Motor-1000W-Rear.html?sessid=2N4fE53h903fBaJT1Ly6Zd9xwlliaEExRvRdp61oLaDtRWJfs9RY9oVbIgr1UJgd&shop_param=cid%3D3%26aid%3DGM-1000R-48%26    Their sales program didnt have the ability to add on shipping,  so after it was shipped, they emailed me that the shipping hadent been compensated for but its been shipped.    I emailed back that I thought that really sucked cause that pretty much makes our business like having a fight with the guy in Macdonalds over the intercom.    You might as well drive on now!   Cuase that motor weighs upwards of 25 pounds!  Now the way I see it,  hes out shipping!  So to compensate for his loss,  hes gonna throw me some junk parts,  some return sh!t.  by the time I get it strait,  I will have paid shipping and them some!   He promised me I was wrong.     I got it and put it together,   THe controller didnt work right, and the throttle was bad,  the controller isnt the instant start 45a like in the picture either.   Guesse I got some bad luck!    Anyway,  not to do business with macdonals in arizona anymore,  I bought a great new infineon controller from Comcycle and a direct connect CA.   Man,  that Golden motor is ALIVE!   At least the Hub I got was first class!   Im having a blast! Now that Ive learned a bit more about all this stuff,  I will shop around much better.   I could have had the Magic Pie for much less and from a dealer with better equipment and saved myself BIG bucks!   Golden Motor rear hub 48v 1000a = AWSOME!!!

How lucky you are! Here in Australia we are ILLEGAL if our bike has more than 200 Watts. So I ordered a Magic Pie which I have now fitted to my daughter's 30 year old bike without a battery, believing I could get one cheaper locally.

Wrong, I should have ordered it with the original order. In any event I have just ordered the GM 24Volt 16AH battery because, while it appears the motor produces 250Watts with 24 Volts, it is just SLIGHTLY illegal here, maybe they'll leave me alone.

I'll be interested to see how it goes with 24V.

If I get really exited by the MP on a bike I might go mad and get another one with the 1,000 watt battery pack and put it on a decent bike and give this 250Watter to the missus.

here in the NL we need PAS and there's a speed limit of 25km/h with pedalling and 250w
but it's 250w continious not max and with stops my average speed is 25km/h with pedal start
they can't test if I have more than 250w contin. so all good,

UK = 250 watts continuous and 15 mph. But again, how the hell are they going to test it. they would have to take it away and bench test it. I don't believe they can do it in the UK. They rely on you telling them if you get pulled over. And im sure to do that lol. I'm riding a 1000w 48v 23 mph at the moment and planning a 72V 1000W Crystallite in the future.

The US Federal law is 750w 20mph but these are guidelines that individual states and even towns can modify via local legislation. For example the state that I live in, Oregon, has a 1000w limit but still a 20 mph top speed. You can get there in a hurry with 1000w 48V though and good torque for hills. My 16" MP won't go any faster than 19.5 mph under throttle on level ground with pedaling and due to drag won't go much more faster than 24 mph down any sort of grade other than really steep. Once again with pedaling. Although this fits in to the regs nicely I would still like a little more top speed for the straight stretches on open roads.

I am too used to my 49cc gas bike I guess that will do 30 easily, but oddly enough is still legal here because electric and gas bicycles are viewed independently, but most states do not require licensing, registration and insurance on either. I wonder how long that will last?

I do feel sorry for those of you in the EU and AU though because 250/200w barely gets the juices flowing, but at least some of you are getting by as outlaws

Mabman. you are a lucky lot over there. Im surprised you don't need registration, insurance or tax on mopeds IE motorcycles under 50 cc. over there !!! we do over here.

and I do feel abit of a outlaw cruising along at 23 mph lol.

Here in New Jersey any motorized conveyance needs at least insurance and registration.
Except for "two wheel self balancing ..." , way to go, whatsitsname.

Well,  I am an outlaw too!  FL says no go over 20!   LOL    My golden motor has been holding up INCREDIBLY!   I have been pushing just about 3,000 watts through it WOT for 30 minutes strait!  20 miles a day like that, with a break in the middle.  Starting with 12 fet hard starts pulling just over 4,000watts, fresh batteries at 54 volts pulling 110amps at start!   I have to say to follow up the actual review,  that the 48v 1000w GM is one helluva strong contender!   No glitching,  no smelly complaints,  just strong and steady.   Im starting to think it can handle this load indefinitly!   Ill let ya know more in another month or two!   Peace dogs!

I didnt have my shunt calibrated in my CA-DP correctly.   Turns out I was only pulling 45amps!    LOL

I now have my Golden Motor 48v 100w doing 72v 45amps.  Correct!  Hot battery messures 79v hit 55 amps peak hot of the press, 4345 watts actual!  I didnt get over 32 mph cruise on flat,  so the top speed was the same as 48v,   but with the 12 FET Instant Start Infineon controller and 72v of SLA's, she was able to hit that and keep it all the way to work,  where as with 48v once the batteries got warmed up the cruise speed slimmed down to around 27mph.     This motor will be reconfigured for Delta/Wye switching.  

By the way,  after ten miles pushing hard,  the motor was pretty hot!   going to have to put a pit stop in the trip.
