With one of these, you won't need any mirrors on the bike:

This is the Reevu cycle helmet incorporating the above periscope system:

And here's the motorcyle version:

And this is supposedly what the rider sees:

Quote
The rear view system on Reevu helmets works on the same principle as the rear view mirror on a car windshield.
Our testers have commented that eventually you are able to maintain awareness of the road ahead and behind without making a conscious effort.
This quite simply transforms your cycling experience. We encourage wearers to make that all- important check over their shoulders before manoeuvres.

Check out this youtube video demonstrating a simple DIY version of rear view helmet mirrors.

That's awesome !!!!!!!

I like the helmet, not sure about the hanging mirrors I'd have to hold back on tying a carrot on there too ;)

Hey these could be cool mirrors if you mounted them under the handlebars. Not sure about looking down too see what's behind you though...

I want one of those Revo helmets now I've never seen that before

Hi Andrew

rozzers ?? how could you.......but alas I also have the duals ........and yup, you are right, power yeehaaaaaa, now all you got to do is avoid the cops, better to build in some "safety systems" :)...PM me for details, but the cycle analysts work a treat, be aware UK regs only allow for one motor regardless of speed / power....

as regards the mirrors, I use a smaller version of this

http://www.cyclexpress.co.uk/Products/Z_Eye_Helmet_Mirror.aspx

I find that anything on the bike vibrates too much to be of any use, they do become very second nature

If one of the throttles is disconnected, you would basically have an ebike equipped with one electric hub motor and one hub dynamo/electrodynamic brake unit. ;)

Perhaps GM should offer revised lettering on the hub to read GoldenGenerator or GoldenDynamo instead of GoldenMotor to avoid any confusion. ;D

"Sorry Mr Policeman, I fully understand how you may have jumped to the wrong conclusion, but that's not a high power motor, it's a super efficient hub dynamo that powers my ultra bright 16Watt 1400 lumen LED lights which are fitted for increased road safety. It also charges up this 48V 16Ah battery to ensure the lights continue to operate at their optimum safety level, even when the bike is stopped!"

"Of course I can explain that 4826 Watt Maximum Power reading, I've just fitted this device to monitor my dynamo output and the unit still needs to be calibrated to match the non-standard inductive current/voltage sensing device. And that 63mph maximum speed reading is obviously wrong, must be due to road vibration affecting the reed switch inside the speed sensor!"

"The squashed flies on the lights? Oh, I guess that must have happened while travelling down the motorway with the bike on the roof rack"

It's good to know that there's usually a logical explanation for most things! ;)

On a more serious note, has anyone here actually tried the Magicshine MJ-816 Light unit?

sheeeeeesh, now thats lighting

Nope, been runinng hope LED duals for years, more light than you;ll ever need.......still it would be nice to flash oncoming drivers who wont dip their lights, and this could indeed be the one

:D   Sorry mate, no offence meant. I'm just a bit jittery about the two pies. Always looking over my shoulder on my bike- if you know what you mean,......  hence wanting a rear view mirror :D :D

I do feel like I need to have a speech prepared come the day....

"Officer? Fast? was I?,... there are magnets in the hubs, you know?, they act like a water wheel to make pedalling a bit easier. Oh the battery?,,, that's just to give the magnets little pulses to get the waterwheel turning. The hubs also help you brake, as you can see there are large disc rotors attached to them for strong  braking.  You can buy similar kits in Halfords,,, honest ;D"     (halfords = bicycle general stores in every shopping complexes)

Lol somehow I think Alans scenario would go down better...

You don't want to get questions like 'where does the water go' and if even better if they ask you to, or try to pedal themself hehe

"Hey you said these things make pedaling easier!!"

;)

you're probably right, but it does sound like the cops near you are a lot brighter than the ones near me ;D

Anyway,  would it be possible to hook up one off those magic shine lights to the pie battery or system?

so a matter of having a DC-DC voltage converter 8.4v - 14watt output?

Sounds like more hassle than it would be worth.
