Hello everyone !
« on: April 02, 2025, 08:37:20 PM »
Thanks for allowing me in. I have just had a 10kw motor fitted to my boat, powered by 314ah 48v lifepo4. Add an EZkontroller and a TRC012 throttle. And that's where the problems began.
Downloaded the app to program the throttle. Followed the video I found for a the TRC010 throttle. Updated the app and the motor started spinning backwards. Panicked, pressed a"disable" button on the app. Motor didn't stop so I turned it off with the key and then had to wait around 3 hours before I could get the app to do anything. It kept saying "state motor error" (or something along those lines) which was a result of changing a setting whilst the motor was spinning.
I spent the free time talking to a couple of people who know more than I do and searching for any information I could find about the throttle and what the error message meant. There's literally nothing useful on the web about the throttle. I found state motor error (may have that wrong) but no instructions on how to make it go away.
eventually I got the app working and was able to press the same button and enable the "throttle reset enable" setting. Turned the controller back on and the motor started spinning again.
So I gave up and went home.
Got a manual for the throttle that evening from a friend, it didn't come with one. Saw that there was supposed to be a safety key. Hurrah. Problem solved,
Nope.
returned to the boat, armed with the throttle and controller manuals, found the safety key, pulled every plug out and started over. The engineer who had connected everything had made a total bollocks of it. Thought Id got everything connected, switched it all on. Nothing.
Made a 5v power supply to feed the throttle. Nothing.
Took the cover off the throttle to find the white cable had been cut and wasn't connected. Confirmed it had 5v on it, took the throttle to an electronics specialist for repair.
No joy from goldenmotor but they will be getting a bill for the repair.
The TRC012 manual has been attached for anyone who wants it.

Anyone fitting a TRC012 throttle. Don’t follow the manual. Ignore any and all wiring diagrams you find or get sent. Don't bother looking for instructional videos.
Plug everything into everything that matches plugs or has the same thing written on it. I haven’t got a “parking” plug on my controller and the KSI plugs don’t match so they’re not connected. Do not connect the key where the diagram tells you to. Only use that if you’re fitting a contactor and want an extra safety device. I’ll be fitting one at a later date.
Long and short of it is, it works !

Hi John and thanks for the update.
It's good to hear that you have been able to sort your throttle problem out.

I can forward the TRC012 manual to anyone who wants it.

If you attach the file to your original post it will be instantly available for anyone that wants it.

If the file is larger than the 2048kB file limit you should be able to send it to the email address shown below (as an attachment) using your normal email application.
I will hopefully be able to temporarily override the file limit and attach it for you.

Just tried again and it is too big. I'll email it to you.

It seems to have worked just as I had hoped and is now easily accessible to anyone that wants it.

Thanks Alan, I see it's on the first post now. GM sent me the wiring diagram for the controller, which is the same as every other diagram I've looked at. Unfortunately it's not quite right. They told me the throttle got its power from the red wire on the throttle plug, which goes to the white wire on the throttle loom (the one I got reattached) but it actually comes from the KSI plug on the controller and goes to the KSI plug on the throttle loom. They also told me every wire from the throttle had to be connected to the controller. Not sure why parking and brake need to be connected on a boat but they ho.
The electrician who connected it all up in the first place had the key switch connected to the KSI plug on the controller. Should have known it was wrong. He had one of the CN2 loom plugs connected to the CN1 loom. I can't remember which one but I knew that it wasn't right.

Any chance you know what SIF stands for ?

Hi John,

I'm guessing that the SIF relates to the "All-in-one Connection/Speed Pulse signal output" which is shown as a Purple wire connected to Pin 16 of the CN2 connector and defined as "IF" on the Interface definition in the EZkontrol Users Manual.
