Options for external controller enclosures
« on: July 12, 2023, 12:17:16 PM »
Hi, I recently bought a Black Magic front hub kit.

I'm just wondering what others have done for keeping the controller safe from the elements, for those with an external controller. I was thinking of designing and 3D printing an enclosure from a weather-safe material such as PETG or ASA. If I can find a box of equal size, maybe that would work too.

Does there need to be any vent holes, if I design one? Like is there a thermal reason why making an enclosure air-tight might not be a good idea?

Thanks! :)

Hi andto the forum.

The controller will get quite warm during sustained high power use, therefore it would be much better to leave the cooling fin section of the controller exposed to a cool airflow if possible.

Check out this topic for further details.
