Where to find 20mm bore weld on hubs in Canada
« on: August 30, 2020, 01:45:08 PM »
Hi,
Sorry for the boring question...I am building drivelines for my 3KW  Golden motors which come with 20 mm keyed shaft. I spend the last two hours online trying to locate a source of metric hubs. My goal being to weld  SAE sprockets to a metric hubs. Where would I find metric hubs in Canada??? :)

If you can find one with a 3/4" bore you would just need to find someone with a lathe who could bore it out slightly from 19.05mm to 20mm.

You may need to file the slot 0.475mm deeper, but it might be easier to file down the drive key slightly until it fits instead.  ;)

Sorry, but this was the only boring answer I could give.   ::)

Thanks Alan,
Yes I may do just that since I have a lathe.
Sad however to think that 44 years after having made metric the official canadian measurement system we in this country are still struggling to work in metric!!! ;)

If I may add a footnote to my thread:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Martin-08B21-Roller-Chain-Sprocket-20mm-Bore-1-2in-Pitch-/383611285018

I found 20mm bore sprockets on Ebay.com. link above.

And my other  thought is that Golden Motor may consider offering metric to SAE hardware on their North American market...Just a thought ;)
