Replacing MP5 controller

Hi,
I still get battery voltage but no longer get 5V from my controller, so I'm pretty sure the controller is shot after ~6000 miles.

 I've taken the philips screws in the attached picture out but can't get the controller out. Based on pictures from other posts or the new controllers @GM Canada I think the part with machined words Golden Motor Patented should just lift out. I've tried to gently pry it out but don't budge.How do I get it out?

The controller is usually sealed around the flange with silicone sealant which can sometimes make it difficult to separate.

Make sure that you also remove the clip holding the cable to the axle:





You should then be able to free the controller from the housing by inserting a knife or flat screwdriver blade into the joint between the Controller heatsink cover and the controller housing:

Does anybody know if these screws are m12?

M12 refers to the outer diameter of the threaded section in mm.

I would expect the thread to be either M5 or M6 but definitely not M12. 

Check out this datasheet for more information on thread sizes on countersunk headed screws.

Taking one from my Magic Pie 5 purchased in October of last year, the specs are as follows...


On the head is stamped:        SCR      10.9


In reference to Alan's chart.

s or Hex head size would be -------------3mm
d or thread diameter is-------------------5mm
l or total length is-------------------------16mm

...soooo   M5.

I don't have a thread comb for the pitch...

It seems to me that they are like this type...HERE.

You will need to verify the thread pitch. They are suppose to be corrosion resistant, tho the one I took off has rust on it!    Recommend anti-seize on re-install.

Get that controller out yet?
