I have had a few mp3's in the last few years with internal controllers of different versions/era's.At least one was a newer version with black/silver controller.I am 100% sure one time I replaced one of the old silver grey metal surface controllers with a black /silver universal Smart Pie/mp3,It is at the cottage or I would tear ir down t look.I have another old version wheel/motor/controller here with dead controller here and as well a black and silver Smart Pie/mp3 universal(missing sticker but pretty sure it is).I do have a old harness here from the cottage bike and it is 8 pin as are the others I have.
I have looked around and hard to find different versions,can someone tell me the differences of versions and replacements please? all 8 pins?pic would be great Also the "universal replacement" does it look like original(smooth grey metal) or is it black and silver like the one pictured which is from gm Canada site,I am sure this is one and the same as the one I used in the old MP III at cottage that had the grey metal,and works fine.Does the smooth grey metal one's recommended replacement have the same smooth cover or a black and silver?.
I am wondering all this as I have a used but good one on hand same a one pictured and am wondering if a brain fart or this will/did/does work in the old grey metal version.Again this pic is from gm Canada,can someone verify it is the one in ad description there.The ad indicates it is not the right one for smooth grey metal replacement,,but I know I used a black /silver in other one and it worked and I still have a reference pic I used at time of phase wires from left,beside mosfet to right-yellow/green/blue-the original with grey had posts for phase wires and the replacment I used on bike at cottage has flag connectors,I do remember installing those,
