Regenerative setup for VEC500 Controller

I use a VEC500 controller to drive a motor. Everything is OK but we have problems to the regenerative situation. When the acceleration pedal (throttle) is pressed the motor start to rotate and the vehicle start to move. After a period the pedal is completely released (no acceleration) and the vehicle should stop fast (the regenerative situation should start) but the vehicle is continue moving and the motor stop after a long distance. I measured the DC current in the regenerative situation and it shows 0 Amps. I also attached the controller parameters and please tell me if I make a mistake or if you have some recommendations.

Hi Neacsu andto the forum.

The regenerative braking (EBS) is usually operated by the brake switch but I noticed on the enclosed screenshot of your settings that you also have a parameter named "EBS Auto-Mode Enable" (that has not been enabled in your settings) which I presume should engage the regen if the motor rpm is above the "EBS Auto-Mode Speed (rpm)" which is currently set at 100rpm.

Try changing the "EBS Auto-Mode Enable" setting to 1: Start and see if the regen then automatically cuts in when you release the throttle.

If it doesn't work, try setting the "EBS Auto-Mode Speed (rpm)" to 3000 and test it again, just in case the motor rpm has to be below the set speed before the Auto-Mode is activated.

The "Decelleration (rpm/s)" setting might need adjusting to control how quickly the motor slows down after releasing the throttle.

Please let us know if any of the above suggestions work.

First I want to thank you for the fast reply. I set the new parameters but it seams the problem still exist. I attach the screenshot of the parameters.

The brake voltage what value must have when the acceleration is pressed and what value must have when the acceleration is not pressed (brake mode).

In my situation when the pedal is not pressed (brake mode) I have 0V on brake terminals and when the pedal is pressed I have +5V on brake terminals.

If the blue and white brake wire from pin 16 of the controller is connected to the switch on the throttle control unit, your values would seem to be correct as the brake signal wire is typically switched to ground (0V) to activate the regenerative braking function which should also disable the throttle.

If it doesn't work with the "EBS Auto-Mode Speed (rpm)" set at 3000 or 100 then I think you will have to contact David at GM in China and see if he can explain why the regen is not working.
