Author Topic: Help! I just received the kit & have NO clue how to hook it up (well 1/2 of it)  (Read 9907 times)

I received my 24v motor and kit and everything I think is here.   I just have NO CLUE how to connect ALL the wires from/to the controller...

I know these wires.....

(Coming FROM Controller)
Pos + to Battery
NEG - to Battery.
The Three Large connectors already on the wires....
1.) To Motor - 5 Wire = Hall
2.) To Electric Brakes. - 2 Wire
3.) To Throttle - 3 Wire.
The Three Connector wires to the Motor



HOWEVER, I have no clue about THE FOLLOWING wires....

Out of the Controller
are two sets of wires on little connectors.
First set is two wire - Red / Black
2nd set is three wire - Red / Black / Green
What are these supposed to be hooked up to?


From accessories...
Three Wires out of thumb throttle...
Yellow
Brown
Where do those wires go? - What do they connect to?
Red button on the thumb throttle is for cruise control?
Green - I found out goes to the battery

Two Button circular plastic thing..?
Red Button and Green (horn) button
with 4 wires coming out - Red / Green / Yellow / Blue....  What do these connect to?
(what do those buttons do?)



Please help.


I've tried to look at the different diagrams for the different controllers you have and I have no luck figuring it out.

In summary, in total, there are 20 wires coming out of Controller.
10 go to the motor
3 go to thumb throttle
2 go to the brakes
5 (in 2 sets of little connectors) - 2 wire & 3 wire.<---- As stated above I have no clue what these connect to.

the diagram on goldenmotor.com is pretty clear.

Its important that you recognize that not all the
connectors are on all controllers, and not all wires
are used on all kits.

For example, the three wires (red black green) go to
a pedalec, something you probably don't have, but that
senses that you are pedaling and won't run the motor if
you are not.

The red and black pair are for a low power device
(again, something you don't have)

To tell you about any of the other wires, you will need
to specify more completely what you have.

I am assuming that the 'two button plastic thingy'
is something that mounts on the handlebars. 

It does not sound like you have a controller with cruise control.

This may help...

Here are the pictures of the wires that I do not know where they go or what they are....

Picture 002 has 2 buttons and 4 wires?  What is this accessory? and what do those wires connect to?
(I'm guessing the green is some kind of horn, and the red, I have no clue.)

Picture 003 are 5 wires coming out of the controller 2 on one small connector and 3 on the other small connector, what are those for and what do they connect to?
(I'm guessing the three wire IS for a pedelec, which I don't have) (The two wire that's for a lower power device like what exactly?)

Picture 004 is the throttle with the connector, connected and three other wires... What do those three other wires connect to?
(I'm the guessing the green goes to power to light the power buttons, but the other two (yellow/brown), I have NO clue)


Picture 007 is the controller.

All the other connections, I know where they go...  Motor/Battery/Brakes/Throttle...  it the ones I am showing above that I have NO clue what they are for and what they connect to.

Please help.


Oh and I was supposed to be upgraded to the cruise/regen controller.

In fact,your motor can run when you put through your battery
Before sending out our products,we have connected all wires.


First set is two wire - Red / Black                        (Red +  /   Black -)
2nd set is three wire - Red / Black / Green              (Pedelec)

Don't need these wires.

Tom,

  I thought I was supposed to be upgraded to the Cruise/Regen controller?
According to what you've told me, this is a STANDARD controller. :(

Can you send me the upgraded controller please? (The ONLY reason, I bought the kit from you guys, was specifically because I wanted that free upgrade to the cruise/regen controller, that you have advertised on the website.)

In fact,I received your order need a standard controller.
So we did it as your order.

Next time,if need to change something,you should send an email to Philip and copy to my email.Then we will not make a mistake.

I ordered via the website and if I DID choose the new cruise/regen controller on the website, I would have been charged for it, which would have been kinda silly considering that wouldn't have made it free. I was told (by Philip) to order it through the website and that I would get the upgrade for free.
I sent emails to sales@goldenmotor.com to make sure that I received the free upgrade to the cruise/regen controller with my kit..

Just a few quick (related) questions...

The mini-motor...
Is it dual volatge? Can it take 24v OR 36v?

The new controller you are sending me..
Which model is it?  And can the model you are sending me work WITH 36v?
(Is the only difference between the 36v and the 24v versions, just a programming thing? I read on the website DIY, that you can make the 36v version work as 24v, so it got me thinking that's the only difference - the model number written on it?)
I also noticed that on the main page, you changed that the new controller had regen on it.  Was that a typo and that's why you took it off? Please explain for those of us, not in the "know'.

We have sent a BAC-0283 to you.It is 24 voltage,can work at 24V or 36V.
But generally we don't allow our customers use like that.(over standard voltage).

If the voltage is  lower than the one which the controller can work,it can't work.
For example:
BAC-0281(36V) can't work at lower than 28V.But we can do something to force it to work at lower than 28v.

Do as below:
About how to force a 36V controller to work with a 24v,12V battery and other unknown problems
 
1.Make sure all wires are be connected;
2.use your handle brake to brake(in the case of brake);
3.press your cruise switch "five times" continuously;(make sure every time with pressing is okay)
4.After hearing a beep,then press your cruise switch again(press all along)
 
Then it can run at half speed

Ok, I've received the new controller.  Thank you.  Works great.

I just need a few questions answered.

1.) On the website it states....  # Anti-theft alarm and wheel-locking by detection of vehicle vibration
How does the "alarm" work.  There is no documentation anywhere about setting the alarm or how it works, just what it does.

2.) It shows the yellow and brown wires (from the throttle) hooked up to Z (common ground) and R (???) for (short to reverse) What does that mean and/or do?

3.) I know the green button for the horn hooks up to H (???) and Z (common ground) to beep the horn, but is there some other function that H (and Z) provides?

Is there a way to reset this controller?  Could you please release a document that has ALL the functions and how this new controller works.   You have a diagram for connections, but no other documentation.  Please create a FAQ (after helping me at the moment) will all the information people will need for installation and maintenance.

The alarm requires that you have the horn on your

and that you have a key-lock on a pair of connectors.
(Requires that the thief knows nothing about goldenmotor.com)
I suggest you rely on a real lock, not an alarm.

The switch on the throttle is a power disconnect.
Short to brake really means short to break, that is, to disconnect the throttle.

H and Z cause a 5V signal to be applied to A1 and A1 (the horn connection)
There is no other documented function.

There is another document that describes the operation of the BAC,
but I cannot find it.

Tom, can you post the document that describes the use of the BAC
including how to run it under-voltage and how to arm the alarm?

That's the part I'm confused about... Just having a key lock there just disables the throttle (i.e. If there is no power going through the G connector, the throttle is disabled)
I'm curious how the "alarm" is set and/or triggered.
and people from my area and who are trying to steal bikes would have no clue about goldenmotor.com :)

I have a lock, but would like an additional method of security... Plus, it's advertised to have an alarm/cutoff, and I would like to use that function... (Another reason, I bought this kit/controller)

Why would you do that? If you have the brake lines connected to the controller already ( B and Z) and squeeze the brakes it turns off the motor... That seems redundant. (It says "short to reverse" btw...)
Are you sure there isn't another reason those connects are there?

Yeah, that's for beeping the horn as far as I can tell.
