Anderson connector assembly error
« on: March 20, 2012, 11:49:41 PM »
Hi Folks,

I am finally getting close to installing my MP3, and I went to rewire the BS-50 connector to the battery pack.  When I opened it up and removed the contacts I found that the contacts were crimped at the wrong place, with the wrong tool, and then dabbed with a cold solder joint.  So If you are having power problems, you should take a look at this area.

In the photo, the red wire coming in from the right is properly crimped, and on the pair coming in from the left, you can see where the GM crimp was done at the very end of the contact, seemingly with a plier or vise.  You may notice the solder blob sitting on top of the wire and contact ferrule.   There was no wicking into the wire strand, and I was able to pull the solder going apart with my hands.

Just a heads up.

TTFN,
Dennis

Thats nasty.

One way to wreck a controller is have intermitant power input.

I just hardwire everything.  That means I have to check all plugs by throwing them in the bin.  ;D

Bring it on
