Heya all, I've been using and building E-Bikes of different kinds over the last couple of years, mostly hub motors, and now mid-drives.
I got this wonderful motor (the one to the right) that is listed as 800W.
I've had great performance of the motor, no problems there, however, the #420 motorcycle sprocket I could do with-out.
For the meantime, I have ground down this sprocket for use with standard 1/8 bicycle chain, but I am in search of options for bolt-on sprockets that will allow me to use different chain. It uses a 14mm shaft with 5mm key, so anyone who can steer me towards other bolt-on options for sprockets would be greatly appreciated.
It's looking like a custom made sprocket from Staton Inc. is the only solution so far, and since this motor spins pretty fast, going to be using #25 chain for a nice compact first stage reduction. (6 to 1)
Here are some pics of my build thus far:
Running this motor at 12S of Turnigy Nanotech LiPo, so about 47V 12AH's of 25 - 50C LiPo that is pretty remarkable, the batteries never get warm even when I am pushing the motor to it's limits climbing the local 10%+ grade hill climbing it with my not so low gearing (I'm using a NuVinci N171B 350% ratio hub, 1.75 over drive, 0.5 underdrive) with a gearing rang of 17 MPH - 60 MPH!
Needless to say, I'm not able to use the full range of gearing.
