GM Canada EBike Clinic
« on: June 05, 2011, 04:38:21 AM »
Recently I went to a ebike show in a very old part of Toronto. I ended up there as a planned meeting of ebikers getting together from an organization called "Meetup". I brought a friend and we rode 30 km there and back. We had a great time meeting others and ended up spending the afternoon sitting in a cafe and echanging thoughts a stories with ebikers we met that day. It was quite fun. One of the people I met is a person named Lock. I don't think he will mind me mentioning his name as he is a moderator and huge contributor to his own ebike forum, Lock is to his forum as Alan is to ours, it wouldn't be the same without him ;) His forum can be found here...

http://www.ebikeriders.com/

The reason I bring this up is I was having a conversation with Lock about how much time I spend on supporting customers in many ways and especially trying to describe to people over the phone how to get there bike going. Lock said to me "Well why don't you have ebike clinics where you can address peoples problems and help them out that way". I think I said something like "ya ya, that would be ok I guess". After thinking about it later I decided since I do actually meet people in person often and do help them with advice on their build so why not. I just did my first limited invite Ebike clinic today. I met 5 people over a 6 hour period in a large parking lot at a local coffee shop by the lake. Over this time I first met a few people to hand deliver some sold product and gave advice on how to do their conversions. Two others brought there bikes down and I helped with technical problems and got them both going. Then lastly I did a complete build right there in the parking lot.

I must say it was the best time I have had without beer in a long time :D It really was fun! So I think I will continue this idea. When issues and requested meetings come I'll just co-ordinate another ebike clinic and do it again. Maybe this will become a regular thing. Something like let's meet on saturday if its sunny :)

Just thought I would share how much fun I had today

See you at the clinic :)

lol that sounds funny!
Gary

Thats a great idea Gary, sounds like it would be fun. Some people aren't able to research the info they need, so you'd be helping a great deal. I hope GM realizes what a dedicated sales/support person they have. I'm not in Toronto, otherwise I'd be there for sure; I love explaining my bike to people when they ask me what those center hubs are for! Even for a small city like mine, there is definitely some interested people.

Have a good one.

I'm trying to remember where you live. I fell like I knew at one time. Also didn't you do a dual drive setup? Did we ever see any pictures of it?

I'm in North Bay and yep, I've got the dual Pie going. A friend of mine in town has a pie as well, we have a blast riding across town! Don't have any pics but I'll definitely get some taken. I think I'm gonna go for a quick spin to get some fresh air. What is it with everyone around here with their ales etc? No worries though, I also started making honey wine and brewing beer.

Cheers! Don't drink and ride! (you might spill your drink)
EDIT: Here are the pics.

A couple on the back of my truck, last year in its single motor era.

Just took these ones in my poorly lit garage.

Here is how many km I've got on it since I ordered my first pie last year.

Here is what happens when you don't change your brake pads, two massive groove in my GM rim.

Man can I relate to those pictures! I spent the first 30 years of my life on roads just like that. Whenever it was time to "party" everone just headed for the bush ;D . You need a few pictures of the Dual drive out in the light with some of that scenery as a background.
