These are pretty easy to come by.  When I experienced my first motor weirdness (jutters and no power) I immediately tacked a few of them on to an order I was going to place with DigiKey anyways.  In single quantities, they're $1.46 (CDN!) each.

Turns out I didn't really need them (the problem was with a bent pin in the connector), but at least I have them in hand in the event of a future failure.

Speaking of problems with connectors...  The same thing that happened with the Hall sensor connector (pin bending outside of the connector) happened today, but with the throttle connector.  This time, however, the offending pin didn't go outside of the connector body - it went into the same slot as its neighbour - in this instance, effectively shorting out the throttle.

When I powered up (I've added a power switch to the controller), there was a pregnant pause while the microcontroller booted up... THEN the whole bike shot across the floor at lightning speed (full throttle, no rider).  Miraculously, no damage done to anything - but it really has me paying particular attention to the feel of those connectors as I'm pushing them home after a disconnect...  I was so stunned by how fast it took off that I stood there for a full five seconds just watching the wheel spin (the bike "wheelied" up against a stand that has a thickness planer on it and fell back on the rack holding the batteries, the rear wheel staying off the ground).  I feel like I got away with one, there...

     Yea were pretty lucky to have all those electronics places on Matheson Ave.  So if the garage door was open and you mowed down the old lady who lives across the street would you have the balls to go get your bike?  I removed all the connectors except for the brakes, for that very reason.  When you sign up for the 1000Km club at endless sphere are you going to admit that you weren't actually on the bike for all those kms?  Sometimes these things seem to have a mind of there own.  The other day I'm running a bit late for work, its 17km.  About 5k in the battery goes dead.  not only did I forget to charge it I forgot to unplug it.  So the battery goes dead the chain comes off and the sky opens up and ........well ok thats three right.  She limped along for another 10Km cutting in and out.  The last 2 km was just me.  Perhaps you should put a safety tether like a jetski has on your bike, just in case you get separated from your ride.  I know, put a hall sensor on the seat and a magnet in your bbback pocket.  Could double as security system.

Mouser is a good resource for goodies.

I'm using the well loved Honeywell SS41 in my golden and they work just fine.  SS41 have a max input volatge of 24v.  I'm going to work with some resistors on the input to see if I can make the GM hall sensors nearly bullet proof.  Given that high max voltage it should be easy.

I had to get a member from ES to purchase some for me and send them from USA to avoid an expensive delivery fee.  It depends on where you live.
