With the casing open all circuit references are correct! I'm puzzled to find out where there must be a short somewhere as continuity between the wires to the controller also don't match. I get 53.7V from the red wire on the cable, and 4.9V on my red wire on the controller board.

The red wire is two different wires.

One is the positive supply to hall sensors (4.9v) and the other red wire is for the battery indicator 53v.

You're missing something somewhere in the continuity testing.  Be careful you don't connect the wrong red wire to the 5v input wires..  If you have made a wrong connection your hall sensors or throttle could be fried by the 53v where it should be 4.9v.

Success...

My cable (that I had to pay for) came in the post today...
So I re-soldered my new hub to socket cable and now bingo all is fine !!

Problem: Wiring connector from controller to 8-pin socket was faulty. I won't say any names but absolutely shocking support from head office and my 'sales rep' I am reluctant to buy again due to the problems I've had. Well I'm over it now it's fixed wooohooo

I agree, there is always going to be the odd fault here and there. After all they are wired on a manual product line, so maybe there was just some new guy there who needed some practice haha

I'll post some pics in the gallery soon I made all of the connections wireless from front to back apart from the throttle so I am only running 1 cable front to back now.. Neat

I tried to replace mine today , but when I was finish , nothing happens when I connect the current.
what would be the best way to check for errors?

use a multimeter  with continuity test ( makes a beep if the wire is not broken, if you touch both ends of the multimeter to both ends of the wire....

Thanks for a quick response. I have measured the amount of battery power and it turns out to be ok. My old controller was damaged due to overload (its not 100% sure that the demage is from the controller) . but the wires seem to be fine. but I'll measure to be even more secure!
