GM 48v 1000w On Trek FX 7.2
« on: March 17, 2009, 03:23:39 PM »
HI,

I am considering putting a GM 48V 1000W motor on a Trek FX 7.2 hybrid bike. Rear drive. 700c wheels. Considering SLA batteries in panniers off the rear rack.

Any advice/opinion? Would you buy again from GM?

I am pretty skilled with brushed and brushless motors (electric R/C flier for years); so I can handle some "ambiguity". What I cant handle is broken parts, wrong credit card charges etc.

Best from the Baron.

Hi, I have been a GM customer for several years (3 kits + accessories).
I had problems with fried hall sensors. First time, I had my motor repared by GM for free. Very honest, although it took 3 months (!) So when they fried again, I decided to use a sensorless controller.
I think that Mr Yao needs to improve communication, because he seems very busy. So when you e-mail him, if you are lucky you get a reply, or often you don't.
Never had a problem with payments.
In summary, considering the prices, I am rather satisfied and will order soon again with confidence.

thanks caradec; very helpful; do you know if the original order comes from a US warehouse or directly from Shanghai? Any metrics on how long it takes to ship?
