« on: January 06, 2009, 02:47:57 PM »
does anyone know if it's possible to fix disk breaks on the rear wheel motor? because I intend to buy a full disc mountain bike which doesn't have brackets for v brakes. can any one help?

Anything is possible but some things are cost prohibitive. The motor has no place to connect the rotor.  Expect one could do some machine work to the motor plate and make an adapter of sorts to mount the rotor although it would likely be a bit of work.

i have the black 36V 500W rear wheel kit. are you saying that I can buy a fix device to fit the discs on the motor without any machining? I searched the golden motor website and found nothing about this.

Don't need holes
HBS rear motor could be installed disc break and shift gears
HBS front motor couldn't be installed them

It only need screw thread on your covers.

He said that the rotor is fastened to the adapter via screws and the adapter has threads that allow it to twist onto the motor. I have one for my BMC motor.

No don't drills holes in your cover it's too thin. I installed disc brake on my bike no problems. You need to get a threaded disc brake adapter.
you can get it from ebikes.ca This will screw to the cover on on the rear wheel. It's the same thread as the freewheel but on the opposite side of the motor. My 1000 watt rear wheel came with that threaded cover. Then a standard ISO disc will screw onto this adapter with 6 bolts. If you don,t have the threaded cover then your out of luck or maybe it can be ordered from GM. anyway it works fine.

i see. now I understand! too bad the case is not threaded on the left side! :( thou I think it's thick enough to drill and thread holes in it to fit the disc break! it's around 5mm thick.
