if Magic Pie5 looses bluetooth, PAS is set to maximum value
« on: November 13, 2016, 08:18:50 AM »
after finding a solution for getting the bluetooth APP working
(see http://goldenmotor.com/SMF/index.php?topic=6104.0 ) I have setup the pedelec.

Ok with bluetooth APP I can sucessfully change the PAS-level on the display: from level 1 to level 5.
5 means that pedelec is very sensitive and the bike reacts with a big acceleration as soon as you just pedal a little bit.
So in my case the value setting of 3 was fine.

Well...until...I lost bluetooth connection.
Of course loosing sometimes a wireless connection is something totally normal and can occur with all wireless-connected devices.
So loosing the connection was not the problem, the problem is what is implemented in the controler about its behaviour after connection loss.

After connection loss, my controler became immediatly very very sensitive to pedaling and this corresponds to a PAS-level set to 5: the maximum setting!

So this is very strange and disturbing, even dangerous: suddenly you are no longer sitting on a bike but on a wild horse!

It seems therefore that the PAS-level is not persistent after bluetooth connection loss (that would be the best behaviour).

The only workaround I found, was to decrease the "PAS ratio" in the settings (those are persistent), to a value that is low enough in order to tolerate
a PAS level of 5. This has then the consequence that PAS level with bluetooth connectivity needs to be pushed up to 4 and therefore there is no
real level regulation anymore, just two possible values 4 and 5.

Also it is frustrating that each time you start the bluetooth APP you need to set the PAS level to 4 because the default level is 1 and this level is too low for pedaling.

So in short, with pedelec installed:
- you start the bluetooth APP => the bike cannot go forward, pedaling is too hard, you need to select 4 as PAS level
- bluetooth connection lost => bike reacts super sensitive and accelerates like a wild horse.
