Forward and reverse on the Smart Pies
« on: December 23, 2012, 11:38:57 PM »
I was contacted by a customer and asked if the Smart Pies can run in reverse full time. I know the External magic controllers can do this and the MP3 internal controllers can. Since the Smart Pies use the same wiring I assumed the answer would be yes. But I can not tell a customer yes without know for sure. So after some testing the answer is YES. By default the Smart Pie runs at 47 percent power in reverse so it does take a USB cable and configuration to set it to full speed.  Here are the results.

If full power in reverse rotation is needed, and one isn't afraid, two of the phase and sensor leads can be swapped...

The twisting of the blue and black wires together on the wiring harness of the Smart pie did the trick . I have the motor running in reverse so I can use the disk brake on my Nirve now . Here are some pictures of finished ( there never completely finished ) product . Rod
