So close need help
« on: April 22, 2011, 03:23:15 AM »
Tested out the connections last night, power was on full, I gave the throttle a little turn and felt the bike lurch.  I went to try it again tonight.  Power was on full, horn works, tested the throttle, the bike motor starts to grab, shudders then nothing, the controller beeps twice.  Nothing happens after that, I still have full power.  Any ideas on what this could be?
Thanks

2 beeps usually means hall sensor malfunction...  Either the hall sensor connectors have a problem or one of the hall sensors in the motor failed.

What kind of motor is it?

Try moving the bike about 3 feet while turning the throttle...
The two beeps made it go into sensorless mode and as long as you don't have a mini motor, the bike should run fine, just as long as you move it forward first.

As Frank has already said, you appear to have a problem with either the hall sensors or one of their connections.  Double check that the hall sensor connections are properly connected at the motor connection and the controller end.

Take a look at this post and this video for more details on testing the operation of the hall sensors.

Positioning and maybe speed detection, I'm not sure whether they also use them for that

Wikipedia (and Goolge) is your friend ;)
