52V bbshd 1000w 20Ah: How to go faster up hills
« on: September 21, 2023, 09:40:43 PM »
Currently going around 10-19 mph depending on hill Slope. My goal is to go 35-45 with traffic because they keep almost running me over.

Hi andto the forum.

You are not going to achieve 35mph going up any reasonable hill with a 1,000W motor, never mind 45mph.

I haven't done the maths, but I suspect that you would probably need at least 5,000W of power to climb a 5% gradient at 45mph.

Therefore, I feel that your goal is unrealistic for a 1000W mid-drive setup, but it might be achievable with a 5,000W direct drive hubmotor (the exact power requirement will vary considerably, dependant upon the steepness of the hill).
