How do I disassemble motor without damaging wires?
« on: December 02, 2017, 11:33:51 AM »
Hi, I'm Chuck and I am relatively very new to this electric bike technology. BUT I have a crystalyte rear hub and I cannot find anywhere how to disassemble without damaging wires. There is a channel milled out of the side of the axle, but does not continue the length of the axle, so I am really at a loss trying to finger this out.

Hi Chuck andto the forum.

It sounds like your wires are similar to the original Magic Pies which were also run through a milled channel on the axle:

To remove the bearing from the axle you had to carefully feed them through the channel under the bearing and remove the cable completely before the bearing could be removed for replacement. Check out this post for more details.

On the Magic Pie, the side cover can usually be removed leaving the bearing on the axle shaft as shown in the above photo.
