48V motor w/ 36V controller & battery?

I just received my conversion kit in the mail.  I'd ordered the 36V 750w motor with controller + battery.  From the labels, I got the 48V 1000w motor instead.  Before I start putting this together, I'm wondering if there's a reasonable expectation this will work, or if something is going to have to be replaced because of the mismatch.  I saw one post from TOM a while back that seemed to imply that you can mix-and-match, but in this particular case, you might be giving up hill climbing ability for increased speed, which is exactly what I don't want.

Anyone have this setup working?

Like you've seen GM has left the building a while ago. I've got the right stuff I think, but I can not use it without the proper manual...I'm sorry. BTW on serveral emails I've got no answer either...

If you use a 48V motor with both 36V controller and battery, it will work exactly like a 36V kit.
But if you have got a 48V controller with a 36V battery (42V full), it will cut off at 41V, so after a few seconds of use.

As far as anyone has been able to see,
the only difference between the 36V
and the 48V motor is that the 48V motor
may have heaver winding wires on the
stator, allowing it to handle more current
(because of higher applied voltage)
without damage.
