How to wire brakes on a road bike
« on: March 26, 2017, 02:59:30 AM »
I would eventually like to convert from using a mountain bike to a gravel, cyclecross, road type bike.  Can't use the standard GM brakes with this setup but want to keep the motor cutoff and regen funcitons. Anybody found a clever solution(s) for this?

thanks

I have Shimano hydraulic brakes on my new build without sensors. Rather than cutting the brake hoses and installing a reed type pressure switch I  have added a hallsensor and a magnet that align when braking to the  house and lever.  I used a heat formable  mould plastic to add an attachment surface for a magnet to the lever and fastened it with a shrink wrap. I get a good signal as soon as I start to break.

I have yet to install an Edge motor but will do so this sumer.
