What is the status of the new ordering system?

Unfortunately none of the ASP web hosting services that were tried (except Network Solutions) knew how to configure permissions to allow user data to be written to the _private folder. Neither did they provide a user control panel to allow the user to configure his own permissions or instructions how to use it if they did. Although user data can be written to other locations this would not comply with East Coast warehouse privacy and data security policy. It appears that the only solution will turn out to be a Unix based Ecommerce package running on the current Golden Motor web site.

In absence of an up and running online order system the East Cost warehouse is still accepting orders by email and by phone with PayPal and snail mail payment options. Fortunately the original problem with using email to place an order, which was the ambiguity associated with natural language, has been solved by presenting customers with a formatted email and by interacting with customers by email to clarify any details needing to be clarified before passing the order to the factory. This method has also been applied to customer service and has succeeded in resolving major and minor customer service issues so that the need for an online order system has been greatly diminished by this success and put on the back burner for now.

Mike, I am still confused on how I place an order for the regenerative braking controller. There is no order link on the Golden Motor Web Page, the only link is sales@goldenmotor.com which just brings up a blank email with the to address filled in. In the past I have never gotten any response to emails sent to that address, addmittedly that was a couple of months ago.
How exactly do I place an order??

If you get no immediate response from sales@goldenmootor.com and you have a PayPal or FedEx confirmed shipping address within the USA you can pay via PayPal to ebike@verizon.net $78 plus $13.66 for shipping an handling. Do not forget to state with your payment that it is for the 36 volt regenerative controller, product code: BAC-0200.

If you do not have a confirmed shipping address then you can send an email to ebike@verizon.net with your unconfirmed shipping address and wait for a reply email with a mailing address of where to send a check or money order. There is no refund for shipping to unconfirmed shipping addresses.

Between the two email addresses above that handle sales you should get a timely reply from one or the other since they are located in opposite time zones. Duplicate orders may be filled as separate orders so use only one address to place an order according to the daylight hours in each time zone. If payment is by PayPal to either email address you will get an immediate confirmation of payment from PayPal independent of FedEx tracking number as will be provided when the order is shipped. Order acknowledgment from either time zone location depends on when order is placed and other factors.

Update... Prior to the hopeful installation of a commercial Ecommerce package on the Golden Motor web site following the opening of the the new customer service center in Shanghai will be a sucessful attempt to move the order system written in ASP to a UNIX server and rewrite it using PHP. Although it will lack most of the features of a commercial Ecommerce package the idea will be to provide at least a basic shopping cart service.
