MP III, no brake effect from the motor
« on: August 01, 2013, 08:35:41 AM »
Hi,

I'd appreciate if anybody could give me some input on this.

Yesterday I installed a brand new MP III engine on my aunts bicycle. It was bought from China. Everything seems to work well, except the braking. The brakes cut off the power from the motor like they should, but the motor doesn't brake at all.

I already own a prokit 901 which have powerful regenerative braking.

Could the internal controller in the MP III motor be programmed not to do any regenerative braking? Could it be anything else? Wires hooked up wrong?

I did not get time to look at the controller settings, and no longer have access to the bicycle because my vacation ended.

Is there any point in contacting GM in case it is a warranty issue?

Thanks!

Jan

Hello Jan
my MP3 was programmed to 0% Regen at Startup (which seems unusual as my first one did recuperate without any different settings). With the USB Controller cable you could controll/change it.
Cheers

Thanks Sam!

Its good to know it's almost certainly just the controller settings.

I did order the USB cable and will fix the regen the next time I visit my aunt. I also need to reduce the acceleration, the bike was far to aggressive for a woman in her late fifties  ;)

Cheers
