Rod hijacked it!!!!
« on: October 01, 2012, 06:47:26 PM »
Hi Rod,

We agree about "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"  :)  Of course, I'VE never made that mistake!  (I'll think Alan has, tho)

However,  there have been a bunch of posts about reversing the rotation of MP's, and the resolution has always been affected by swapping two colors of phase wires, and the same two colors of hall sensor wires.    If it doesn't change the rotation, I have no ideas for your solution.  But I'll bet that Alan knows!  :)

Anyway, I spent way too much time in the 80's and 90's replacing failed three phase motors, and from that I learned that swapping any two phases makes the motor rotate the other way.  Every time.   From that I also learned about bearing ratings and costs, and started insisting on documentation of    L10 tested grade 5 bearings being used on all motors, and just about quit replacing failed motors.  Cheap bearings are false economy in a manufacturing setting.

TTFN,
Dennis
