Problem connecting controls to hub

Recently bought the Golden Pie 3 kit, but the main connector with the arrows is odd.  Both ends appear to be male and unless there is some kind of cap on one of them covering the female ends, then I don't see how this possibly connects.  I cannot find anything in the installation videos I've found that covers this.  Anybody run into this?

The eight pin connectors on the motor and front harness are supposed to be different and should look like this:



The following diagram clearly shows what the insides of the two connectors should look like:



Which one of your connectors is different to the above diagram?
