Cycle Analyst speed limit on Magic Pie

I'm looking to wire up the CA speed limit function to my Magic pie. I have no clue which resistor or diode to use, like stated in CA user's manual. Hopefully someone can help me out. Thanks.

I tried wiring my throttle signal through the VI on the CA circuit board, as outlined in the owners manual in section 9.3. Once I got the PS gain set properly (0.4), the bike ran quite nicely. I set the speed limit at 32 km. It worked perfectly. The problem I ran into was my regen braking wasn't functioning properly. I found that the only way to use regen braking was to stay on the throttle while braking. I adjusted the aux threshold to 0.86 volts which was 0.1 volts above the point where the bike would just take off on it's own. This helped the regen braking but it still wasn't working to its full potential. It has something to do with the resting voltage coming from the throttle signal. I just couldn't seem to get the CA to match it. Also, if I pressed the cruise control button while the bike was stopped, the motor would start nudging forward at a low rpm.

While having my morning coffee I decided to play with the settings some more on my CA. I adjusted the threshold to 0.80 volts. This way the regen braking doesn't work at all unless I press the throttle while braking. It may actually be better this way once I get the hang of it. This way I can control when I use regen braking. I enjoy the regen braking when wanting to slow down quicker, but sometimes it is a little too much. I've only been riding my e-bike for a couple weeks now so I'm definitely a rookie e-biker. Does anyone see any problems with the way I have everything set up, or any suggestions? I love playing around with electrical and mechanical stuff, so I'm in heaven getting this bike set up. The best thing about all of this, is that when ever I have a question there is always someone on this forum willing to help.

Which diode and resistor did you use, And what are the correct settings for the CA?

There was no need for resistors or diodes. Below is the wiring diagram of how I wired it up (copied from owner's manual). A major disadvantage I did find testing this setup further. the throttle reacts quite differently. The big thing is controlling the speed below full throttle. If I tried to cruise at let's say 20 kph. I would have to keep letting off the throttle, or the speed would just keep slowly climbing. I'm pretty sure this is in direct relation to your Max Amps setting. For instance. If you set your Max amps to 35 amps. Full throttle will allow 35 amps, making half throttle be 17.5 amps. Which at full cruising speed you are using less then the amperage at half throttle. Other then that everything else seems fine. Remember, regen braking is also works differently (as stated in previous post). Below diagram is settings on CA that I changed from default settings.



Speed Limit- 32 kph
volts Limit- 40 V
Max Amps- 40 A
PS Gain- 0.40 V/Kph
ItermMax- 3.80 V
ITermMin- 1.50 V
Max Throttle- 3.80 V
Aux Voltage- Amps Limit
Aux Threshold- 0.90 V

I also have hooked up my CA_SA with the throttle input marked VI on the analyst. After some tweaking of the settings seem to have it working pretty good. It still takes off when I turn on the battery key so I`m going to try your settings. I also Installed a switch just before the throttle input on the controller so I can decide if I want the throttle signal to come from the throttle or the CA. Its just a simple toggle switch and I can decide between the two positions of ` I gotta fly I`m late for work` or `I have plenty of time`.

The switch is a great idea. The key settings to prevent the bike from taking off is Aux voltage set to amps and threshold set above 0.85 volts.
