A few Magic Pie questions
« on: July 26, 2011, 03:31:14 PM »
I've driven my new bike with MP for a few days now and some questions have arised. I remember some of it being discussed before, but search didn't help me find answers.

My bike is 700c wheels, with MP2 in the rear wheel. Battery is 48v 15Ah 2c.

The power isn't what I expected. Acceleration is really sluggish and it even struggles to get going from a standstill. Is it due to largest possible wheels? I've seen videos where smaller wheel diameter MP's even skid when they get going.
Top speed on flat surface is fine, about 30-35 km/h, but the torque and hill climbing sucks badly.

Battery is properly connected to motor and I'm sure it gets all the amps the controller wants.

In the MP2 configuration program, are the default settings fine?
Cont: 30A
Peak: 50A
BLDC 120
PAS: High
FWD
Voltage 48v
Speed scale 100%
REV disable

Should I try 36v, or even 24v? Mod it somehow? Get and external controller, if that's even possible with internal controller MP?

Or, is 700c wheel just too big to get any torque out of?

Try setting the voltage to 24v

That helped a bit I think, thanks :)

Anyone know, if modding the MP2 helps as in this thread?

I need to take the wheel off anyway, since one of the spokes came loose and the nut is now rattling inside the wheel and taking a look inside for possible weak spots is not a problem.
