  • I'm here to learn.
Hi all,   I haven't posted for while but I have been keeping an eye on the forum. I have a couple of questions, as I'm thinking of purchasing two GM mini motor kits with frog batteries for a friend and his wife, I will be doing the builds.

Apart from the longer life span of the LifePo4 battery, would there be any other benefit over the 'standard' Lithium frog Pack.

and,, Is it now known what power connector the frog uses? and are there issues with fitting onto seat posts??

Andrew :)

The plug on the frog style is non-existent. It has just a red and black wire coming from the base of the battery holder. The battery does slide off the base with a key-lock similar to the aluminum cased battery locking method. One drawback to this battery is the large hole for the seat post to go through. This has to be fitted with rubber to give it a tight hold.

About the LifePO4, This is from the GM China site

Innovation in Li-ion Battery
LiFePO4 Power Battery: Faster charging and safer performance

1. Fast charging
2. Large overcharge tolerance and safer performance
3. Self balance
4. Simplifying battery management system (BMS) and battery charger
5. Longer cycle life
6. High temperature performance

There are more details on the page I took this from located on the GM China website.

Does the LifePo4 take a different charger than the standard Li-ion?
