Deisel electric bike?
« on: March 16, 2011, 02:33:44 PM »

Need unlimited range? Want to be able to charge "off the grid"?  Solar is not working for you?

Micro gas generator in a nice package just right for most bikes. Less than 5lb, produces 10A DC for charging the battery on your electric bike. Electric start, low noise, runs on Alcohol.

Also, dual Magic Pie "free energy" using feedback controller.....more on that later, its top secret.

Gotta' be top secret... ;D

For a long time, i've drooled over getting one of those small diesels powering cooling containers mounted on trucks; They're small and often 2cyl....

Seriously, ever heard of a feedback loop? oh course you have.... The same is true for the motor, a controlled comparative circuit feeding back the output from two motors with a resistive element meant to keep the circuit from over heating. Start the motor with the battery, turn on the comparator circuit, and you will make power. Prove me wrong.

Never mind that, simply use a .9 sized 4 stroke hobby motor. CDI controlled, electric start, $150
Then connect a 300Kv Brush less motor and Regen circuit, and voila, 10A of current @2000rpm.

The whole thing weighs less than 5lb, and fits into an 6" steel box, fan cooled. All and all I spent less than $200 for a portable charging system I can use WHILE I ride..... Or I can just pull over and let it charge.

I think according to uk laws, the addition of an internal combustion engine of any kind renders the bike void of the ebike laws, would need tax insurance etc, would need to be removeable :)

If so, im game lol

even a motor that fits in the hand? This is a charger, not a propulsion unit.

Excellent thinking, but would you say the RC motor will run continously without issues for long periods? I sorta doubt that part unless its built for continous operation.

Still not sure why you would want something so loud & bulky on an ebike, and sort of defeats the purpose of offsetting your carbon emmissions ;)

A guy in here recently posted about hydrogen fuel cells, I'd be looking further into that. Much quieter than cruising around at X speed while your RC motor is churning away at 2000RPM hehe

Those two motors are very large, equal to 100CC motor.... smaller versions is available, and yes the Japanese bearings are fine for continuous use @ low RPM.

The stirling motor is just cool... a beam of photons condensed by a lens would likely work... I have also considered using compressed air ...

My issue is I do  a lot of long distance touring, and live off the grid in Ontario. The hills are very challenging, and can leave a battery dead in no time. The issue of weight/ power is one I  monitor closely, having a smaller pack, with higher V and a constant trickle charge makes for a very effective solution...

as for the bulk, I have plenty of room... check out the bike :)

Here's one for you; the filename for the picture says: 'Wife's out' in Norwegian... ;D Which makes sense, since the picture have been taken in what looks like a living room, and I wouldn't imagine the wife would be happy about a bike in the livingroom... ;D
