new member, a few newbie questions about 750w/prokit 901 vs 'Magic Pie'

hi everyone, I'm from Cardiff, South Wales in the UK. I've been reading up on discussions and articles on this site but still have a few 'new comer' questions that I hope I can get some concrete answers to before I order from Golden Motor in China.  

I have a 2005 'Specialized Stump Jumper' Mountain bike 26" wheel. It has V-brakes, 100mm front hub , and 135mm rear. it also has a 7 cog rear cassette......
questions that I have burning in my brain, in no particular order,,,
1. I've read that the 'Magic Pie' motor can come with an internal controller which makes things a bit tidier for a conversion kit, is this the same for the ProKit 901 motor? if not, where is the controller usually housed? Does the RAK-001 rack come with a controller box attached if chosen as part of a conversion kit?

2. Can I fit a Prokit 901 rear wheel/motor and keep the 7 cog cassette?

3. The Magic Pie is advertised as just the largest motors, but does the name encompass the 901 kit?

4.What would the main differences be between the 500w motor, the 750w motor and the largest 'Magic Pie'?

5. would there be any point in having a 'pedal assist' on any of the above motors?

6. do all the above motors come with  regenerative braking?

I hope these questions don't sound too silly

The pro kit has a HBS motor on it.  They are good motors.  I don't think the 7 cassette will be needed or useful you be lucky to need 3 gears after your bike is motor assisted..

Some problems with wheel center on some of the HBS motors, not sure if this has been fixed yet..  I put mine on a steel frame and pull the rear dropouts apart over a washer and it is no worries, So maybe look at using a steel frame for the HBS pro kits.

 Yes its is always good to have pedals on any E-bike in these wattage ranges but you don't need to pedal.

Pedaling helps your battery life and range in many situations.  Pedals can give you much more torque on take offs.

The 500 watt and 750 watt are both good motors, and will go fast.  One is more powerful on the take offs.  The MP is a little slower than the top shelf HBS motor but it is designed for more torque for volt/amps and can use higher volts if you like to get more speed with this better torque..

Regen brakes are implemented on the controllers, only geared hub motors with free wheel locking mechanism fail to give regen and hall sensorless operation mode.
