X10 on a PolyCraft Tuffy 300 Powered by the Sun
« on: August 09, 2024, 07:53:28 PM »
Greetings Alan, My name is Jeff, a Retired Aerospace Engineer and the proud Owner/Operator of 9 LIVES, a 1997 Manta 40 Sailing Catamaran that I am updating and Electrifying. 9 LIVES's tender is a PolyCraft Tuffy 300 now powered by one of your X10s, love it, it's been in service 6 months with no major issues, just some observations of from our experience with the X10;

1) Under heavy loads, usually in Sport mode, Motor disconnects from Propeller. I realize this is a heavy vessel at 220 lbs + 99 ib Battery, rated for 15 hp, I

2) Propeller Cavitates at speed, when planing it is constant, are there any other propeller options? Check out the winner of this 3D printed prop test;

3) Lever for unlatching tilt snagged on the way down bending it's retaining bolt.

4) Skeg finish completely exfoliated in the first month.

Any plans for an X15 to replace the 2 stroke Yamaha 15?

Cheers, Jeff
