MP Edge and 52V Battery
« on: September 21, 2019, 09:48:39 PM »
Is there any problem using a so-called 52V Lithium Battery (i.e. 14s) with the MP Edge?

No problem at all.

I've used home made 51.8V 14S LiPo packs with my Magic Pies for many years without any problems, and their voltage is typically around 58.8V when freshly charged.

The above GM 48V 16S LiFePO4 pack is actually 51.2V or 52.8V nominal, and charges to 58.4V.  ;)

Hi Michal andto the forum.

The default current setting for the Magic Pie Edge is 21 Amps (Smart Pies are 15-18 Amps and Magic Pies are typically 25 Amps), but you should be able to increase it provided you don't overload it too much on long steep hills.

My Smart Pie is currently set to 30 Amps, but it can get quite warm on steeper hills and has even cut out completely when my wife made it work too hard for too long, and she then had to wait for the motor and controller to cool down before the throttle would work again.  ::)
