Looking for a 5kW 48V Permanent Magnet Generator
« on: September 02, 2015, 08:54:03 AM »
Hi Alan,

My company produces wind turbines in the U.K. We are looking for a 5KV 48V PMG with an operating speed range of 450 to 550rpm to extend our range of turbines. One of the companies contacted was Golden Motor in Canada. Currently our range of PMG's tops out at 2.5kW - we source these in China - and despite our efforts, and other than a company call GinLong, we can't seem to find a source for these units.

Alan Gary at Golden Motor suggested that we joined the Golden Motor forum and post our requirements in the hope that "someone" might be able to help. Take a look at our website www.anakatawindpower.com to see our current products. Any help in our search for suitable PMG's would be appreciate.

Best regards,

David Wood (aka Splinter)

You'd be far better to post your question on the endless-sphere message board, there's even a section specifically for those sorts of items/ideas.

Hi David

Hey, I just wanted to complement you on your design.  It is gorgeous to look at, and brilliant in its simplicity.   Nice Work, Guys!  Bernoulli would be pleased to see your use of his work.

By the way, was it Lotus F1?  ACBC RULES!

TTFN,
Dennis

Hi David,

Just a thought for you.   The A018 design features a fixed duct.  How about adding a tip ring to the turbine blade assy, embed magnets in the ring, and put windings in the venturi? duct? diffuser? to form the alternator coil element?

For the A007 design, the magnets could go in the existing "curvy aero thingy tip ring" and the coils in a sector arrangement near the tip ring.

Again, that is a beautiful design.

Yeah, I'm an electronics guy, not an aero guy.

TTFN,
Dennis
