MP4 Waterproofing.
« on: July 07, 2015, 01:35:35 PM »
Hi to all the forum members. New MP4 in hand for a self build bike out of my old mountain bike. I'm busy riding my current 300W bike here so the MP4 will be quite some change. At present it's raining like mad and being an all weather rider I'm interested in how the MP4 will cope. I believe from another post that the controller board is conformal coated, and I have read about Leslie driving his MP in flood waters, so I don't think rain will be an issue or will it. I certainly understand the issues of DC voltage and corrosion in the presence of moisture, so I want to be very confident that rain isn't going to be an issue. Has the MP4 been tested under wet conditions? What are members experience and advice? Should I do a waterproof coating like nanotech myself?

Hi andto the forum.

Take a look at Magic Pie, is it waterproof? and Magic Pie in the Rain regarding Magic Pies and water.

Whatever you can do to improve water resistance should help, especially on the connectors.
