Magic Pie 3 (or any!) Controller Covers for the wet
« on: October 02, 2014, 04:20:40 AM »
Hi. Are there any plastic waterproof covers available that you can buy for the controllers?

The guy I bought my Magic Pie from reckons it should be OK to bike in the rain as long as the controllers are covered. Of course that makes it a bit difficult to use so..

Just sitting here at working looking at the rain and worrying about damaging my bike on the way home.. or falling off trying to cover the controls with my hands :)

I am anwering from a mobile so I can not see the older post so well. Are we  talking about external controllers? If not this my post less relevant...
You can look up my post on the subject. In short due to cooling reasons I would not put the controller into a plastic box. I eaven fitted a processor cooler on mine as it was very warm to the touch.it actually burnt . I had it inside a metal box.Now it runs really cool. I suppose you can chose between death by execessive heat or by corrosion.

I was talking about the throttle and switch controls.

I was talking about the throttle and switch controls.

In that case you simply need to find (or make) some lightweight handlebar muffs.

If you don't need the warm lining, a couple of stiff polythene bags with a hole cut in to slide over the controls could be taped or elastic banded in place with the top of the bags facing backwards so your hands can be inserted easily.

I only have my throttle and motor kill switch on the right side of my bars. When it rains, I simply pull out my bright pink washing up glove and elastic band. Had a few funny looks. but hey.

having no practical effect or useful result is futile

A bit bulky :) They look very similar to my kayak gloves.
