MP3 +5V ?
« on: September 05, 2014, 08:53:46 PM »
Hello,

at this picture:
http://www.goldenmotor.com/goldshop/video/magic%20pie%20kit/MP3%20SmartPie%20Wiring%20Layout.jpg

there is +5V at the wires for the pedelec (PAS).

My question is - how much Ampers can I draw from this +5V wire? I'd like to use it to charge an Iphone, which need 1A of 5 Volts (I guess) (the Ipad need 2A)...

Certainly not that much, the +5V feed will probably supply around 20mA which is only 0.02Amp.

Gary sells a dual USB unit with a 5V 3A output which can be used with 24-72V batteries which would enable you to charge your Ipad and your phone at the same time.
Although it's made to connect to a Cycle Analyst power output, it should be possible to connect it to most ebike batteries if you fit a suitable connector.

Check out Gary's video for more information.

Thanks.. In that case I am considering to add a DC/DC converter. There are some waterproof for $10-$15 from China (aliexpress.com)
