Got my Lyen, now I'm flyin'
« on: July 23, 2012, 08:11:06 PM »
Hi Folks,

I received my Lyen 12 FET controller last week, but had commitments, so I finally got to install it on Saturday.  It was pretty straightforward to install, and it worked just fine as soon as it was wired up.  Thanks to the information about changing phase and sensor sequence, it even rotated the proper direction.  When I put the Morgen on the ground, I was very pleasantly surprised to find much stronger acceleration!  The top speed was 1 MPH lower, but  I understand that is a software setting, and I can change it when I borrow a PC.

I neglected to tell Lyen that I needed reverse, and have asked for directions on where to hook up the switch.  I know the controller is capable of reverse, so I'm not really worried.

I sure am glad to have my ride back on the road.  I was going to show it at the Oregon Electric Vehicle Assn meeting last week, but it seemed kind of dumb to do it without a working vehicle...

Thanks again for all the helpful information to get me back on the road.

TTFN,
Dennis

Hey Dennis,

I noticed you bought a 12 fret from Lyen. Which model did you get? I use 2 48v LiFePo4's in Parallel they can put out 120 peak amps I think, they by them selves each put out 60 amps peak. I just bought a brand new Magic Pie 2. I need mine more for torque, than for speed, as I use it to power my pedal taxi, what do you suggest?
Thank you kindly for your knowledge,
Robert
