MP start and stop problem
« on: October 01, 2011, 07:44:24 PM »
I need help from the electropandits.
My MP is getting erratic. Two odd things have been happening; sometimes when starting-out the power comes on then cuts, then on then cuts... then it seems after a certain speed is reached all is well (power lights stay on during this). The other problem is the motor will cut out and power lights die, everything shuts down after what used to be well within the range of the battery.... oddly when this occurs the battery read 37.7 and higher on the 36 volt battery. On a fresh charge the battery still reads 42.2. The start stop issue occurred when the battery still measured 39.9.

thanks in advance for your insights

Tom

Loose connection? Broken battery plug? Faulty key-switch?

Unplug and re-plug everything to be sure all connections are good...

I've checked connectors and have not ruled them out entirely. But given the bike keeps failing consistently at 37v isn't a bad cell a reasonable suspect? Ale sounds good too.
thanks,

It will do 10miles no problems (maybe a start-stop re-throttle but still decent power). At about 15-18 miles I get shut downs. Hit regen brakes for a while down a hill and the power LED returns to green briefly. but it's stop and go flaky after 15 miles even though I know the Battery is at 37v.

It would be worth rigging up some kind of volt meter to see the lowest voltage whilst driving.......it could be that your battery is sagging below the cut off limit ( which seems reasonable at 15 miles, if the battery is driven hard enough or you have a medium performance cell)......
