36v motor with 48v controller

Hi

does the 36v hubmotor (i have the front one) can handle 48v using the 48v controller?

YES!
I do IT currently! 33km/h in 36v regen -> 43km/h in 48v regen, no problem.
I used 37v15ah lifepo4 (peak voltage 42v) battery on 36v system and now a 48v 15ah lifepo4 (peak voltage 55v) on 48v system.
This work very well!!! (1 month commuting to work ~500km 0n 48v vs 3800 total on my ebike, all with same 36v gm engine!

did you do any mods to the wirering? or anything else?

what your range at 48v and that set of batteries?

no mod at all except the change of controller (plug and... play)
didn't yet test range, but did already 55km, which is two normal days of comuting to work without charging 2*26km  plus 3kms... I expect to reach approximately the same range than with 36v, thanks to higher capacity battery, considering more drag at higher speed... (was > 75km at 36v - and even end of battery wasn't reached -~15km remaining-, at 30km/h average).

remember these are not nickel batts, charge your lithiums as often as possible. it's much better to charge it all nights than every other night just because it can handle two commutes. reducing the depth of discharge by half will quadruple cycle life. (note that apparently calendar life suffers more when the batt's warm or charged, even for LiFePO4s.)

Hi ! If I use a 48V controller with 36V LiFePO4 (GM) battery, is it possible to increase the speed? I am currently use 500W 36V motor ,36V controller and 36V LiFePO4 (GM) battery. I want to increase my speed. Definitely the controller is the bottleneck.

no, you need a higher voltage battery and matching controller (or controller mod). or you could replace the wheel of the hub motor by one of larger diameter.
