What NOT to do with a bike with a motor...
« on: July 12, 2011, 11:56:46 AM »
Here's one way you shouldn't start riding your bike... ;)

I was standing on the left side of the bike with the left foot on the left pedal; ready to jump on when I gave full throttle. This is the usual way I start... :)

What I didn't noticed, was that the reverse button was engaged! :o

Well; I jumped up, swinged my leg over the seat and gave full throttle at the same time. The result was that the bike went backward surprisingly fast, while I went over the steeringbar head first... :D

I'm sure it looked hilarious, but I wouldn't recommend this... ;D There was little damage fortunately; neither to me or my bike... Just a bruised hand and knee, plus a damaged toenail. (that hurt a bit though...  :-\ )

Ouch !!!

I think your next mod should be reverse switch removal :D

Good work posting it up on the forum though, because that sounds like something I would do!

Cheers

"Cool! It even got a reverse!", I thought when I first got the motor... Then I thought (after testing it a couple of times); "Reverse on a bicycle?!? What a silly idea..." ;)

And it is - on a 2 wheeler, that is. On a tricycle on the other hand, it's a stroke of genious! :)

Disconnection of the plug to the reverse switch are now on the to-do schedule... ;D

lol,I'm sorry but that is funny. I really wish I would have seen it.

I know what you mean about reverse on a trike. My buddy has one of those "granny trikes" with the huge baskit in the back and a 500w pro 901 on the front. Its great for using reverse. Plus his bike nevers falls over, when its  parked. When its moving its a differnert story. He has flipped off into the bush a few times. I laugh at that too :) As long as he doesnt hurt himself to bad. It sure is funny after a few pints :)

:oThat's why I'm getting the USB cable to set how fast it goes in reverse, lol. I could see myself doing that same thing you did  ::)
Glad to hear that your bike wasn't damaged and minor injury :)

I wouldn't worry about it on your beast Mechana

I reckon it would look way cooler walking it backward sitting on it, sorta like a Harley !!!
:D

Unless you have the same idea as me - I'm only enabling it on mine, so when smartasses put their car bumper right near the back of my wheel I'll slam it in reverse and give them a slap in the bumper with my copious amount of rubber !!! kworrrr

lol
