Optimal setting for MPie II w 36v 16a
« on: August 02, 2010, 02:59:54 AM »
What are optimal settings for MPie II w 36v 16a?
I set it to be very conservative at first I think...
Without rechecking, I believe I set the the continuous amp to 12 or 13, and peak to 16amp.
Is this to low?
What is the edge and what makes for a long lived battery.
The default was more than much higher.

If you enjoy the power you are feeling comming form the MP at those setting then they are optimal.  Conservative is good. ;D

Some people may need more power for their uses and others have lighter frames and do less hill climbs maybe happy with saving more power and getting more distance.

Without looking at the numbers, take your bike for a ride and feel what you want.  If you feel that you want to go faster on take offs and go up hills faster, or your are a person that has more weight to carry than others. set it higher.

If you really do not need more grunt, 20 amps continuous and 25 amps max is fine.

The Pie is rated at 1000 watts continuous.  To stay within the motor warranty specs with the 36v pack and 42v hot do not push more than around 25A continuous and 30A max.

PS. If either motor or controller is getting to hot to the touch do set the AMPS lower.

COOL!!!
Wow!
Oh Noooo!
No Fixi-bikes will ever pass me again!
Good that I set it low at first... looking back, the throttle issues might have been dire with more amps.
thank you very much

Does anybody know of a fix for the terrible 15A max issue that is/was? afflicting people or does my 'version' of the Pie just suck? It seems the guy above got a nice 'kick' out of increasing his settings - wish I had experienced that.
