IS THERE A BETTER PRODUCT THAN MAGIC PIE ?
« on: October 11, 2010, 03:36:00 PM »
I have a broken Magic Pie and another Magic Pie still somewhere between here and China - no communications from
GM, No reply to emails - What a complete waste of time and money.
I would strongly advise anyone considering buying this stuff to think again - it is inherently unreliable as proved by so many faults
on this forum and the service from GM is non existent - I have so far parted with nearly $1800 and have a broken unit and another
lost in space !

Can anyone recommend an alternative product ?

Thank you

I understand your frustration. I've had some trouble too, but that wasn't really GM:s fault. I ordered my motor and battery from www.conhismotor.com. As I've understand, it's the same motors that GM sell. Customer service wasn't great but everything got here in one piece so that's something. Communication with the Chinese can be a real pickle at times since they don't really speak proper english.

The best tip I can give you is try to find some local dealer: http://goldenmotor.com/contact/contact.php  It's always easier to communicate in a language both parties understand and it's easier to hold a local dealer liable if there are any problems.

(Also about your broken MP: what's the problem? Have you tried fixing it? It seems the internal controllers in the MP's are crap so you can always try an external one.)

Good luck!

have you tried emailing TOM at GM.  he has replied to my concerns over shipping a few times over the past two weeks, although he does take a couple of days to reply.  Infact he's keeping me upto date with tracking as the parcel moves from EMS to TNT shipping companies.

Where abouts are you in the UK Rob?  there could well be someone to help closer than you think.

I have an external controller wired up for awesomeness and I'm in the UK..... actually I have a spare Golden Motor as I have started building another bike.

If I can be of any help let me know or if you want to buy the motor and controller off of me cheap give me a shout. I live near Stonehenge in UK. I'll PM you with my email details.

In case you don't want to buy my secondhand stuff lol ...... I bought one of these:

9C 2807   uses a bit more battery but goes faster, not as good at hills but not far off. Oh yeah and the shop return emails and send stuff within 3 days!
