charge battery, how many hours?

Could someone please tell me how many hours it takes to charge a 48v12 battery?

From flat to full I dunno around 8-10hrs off a GM charger

I don't necessarily sit next to it lol do you?

4-6 hours depending on discharge....6 is the most ive had before

I use about 15 watts per KM.  Hard riding.

I ride 18 kms per trip.

I use say 270 watts and charge about 300 watts.

My charger averages 54.5v @ 2 amps close to 110 watts per hour.

So about three hours charging per 20 kms.  If I need balance you can add anything up to 2 hours onto this.  But I balance within 10 mins of full charge.

Sometimes it's good to leave the charger on for hours after it reads finished. Some times it can take days for the BMS to get a poorly balanced pack back in balance.

It depends on your charger too,


2 amps charger 2 amps per hour.

12ah/2A= 6 hours.

@ 80% efficiency it should take just over 7 hours for a complete empty pack.

A new pack should be left to live on the charger for a few days to insure all the cells are properly balanced.
