Brake doesn't switch off motor
« on: September 28, 2010, 04:22:23 PM »
My GM handbrake doesn't switch off the motor when activated. It's connected to the Magic Pie motor and brand new.
In the kit were 2 brakes, as I only can use 1 brake I cut the wire before the connector, but that shouldn't change the working.
What could be the problem?

Hi andto the forum!

Try to disconnect it and make a short circuit directly on the controller, if the motor still works it’s the controller.

You can also measure the cable, press and release the lever to see the difference.

Thanks for the reply!

I short-circuited the blue connector and the motor keeps on running.

So is the controller defective or programmed wrong?

I don't have a programming cable.

Hey Ardhout

The brake signal pulls a pin to ground. So if you cut one of the wires - and it was a black one then you might have cut the signal wire so it has nothing to connect with.

Try connecting your blue wire to one of the black GND wires and it should work.

If you have a multimeter, set it to continuity and then test your brake switch using a ground wire and the blue one.

Maybe your pie just wants to go go go hehe

Yes, that was what I was doing.
I disconnected the blue brake connector, took the blue connector going to the mp wheel, and short-circuit the blue and black wire in that connector. Nothing happens, the motor keeps on running, with or without the short-circuit connector.
