What a good find.
« on: June 09, 2010, 09:31:58 AM »
I ride past the TV repair shop and check the bins there for old circuit boards that they throw out.

I pull up a box and I see this.

4x100v 22000uf big ass caps.

Bloody four of them too.

I asked the Jaycar dealer what was his biggest cap in stock and he told me 40v 10000uf caps and they cost around the $42AU mark.

This IMO makes my caps I found in a bin worth more than + $300AU

Any ideas what I can do with them?

They = .088 farad at 100v and this is pretty big.

with a good switcher I can milk at least 50v at .088 farad.  Thinking solar panels can charge these up to my 88v and switch it down into a pack to pack voltage.

LOL

I want more.

Really big caps.

A Farad will supply 1 amp for 1 second and decrease by 1 volt.

Wow this equates to .008 amps per second per volt.

It will stop at 41v at LVC.  So that is 60v energy if fully charged to 100 volts.

Amps per second.

.008 farad x 60 = .48 amps per second.

Not big at all.

Good for auido PSU filters or a precision power supply for short frequent high loads that may introduce ripples into a circuit .

I get a lot of stuff from the TV shop bin.  Its one of my stop overs into town.

Heat sinks, large wire wound resitors.  Thermistors  You name it, it's there in the bin.
