I checked voltage on my battery,59v,went for a ride, dies after 2 miles, unplug and replug battery, goes short distance then dies,I squeeze brake and press cruise control 5 times, nothing.I pedal home check voltage 58.1,put on 5 amp charger,1 hour till green light comes on,61v.
QUESTION 1;Why does the bike shut down at 58v when I have a 48v 1000w kit?
#2;Why didnt the bike run at 1/2 speed when I sqeezed brake while I pressed cruise button 5x?
#3;Do Infinion controllers have a 41v lvc?
-
Hey buddy
What kind of battery are you using with this?
The Magic controllers cut out above 60v (MAX 63v but its generally a little lower)
#2 The controller will not function if/when it cuts out therefore the safety features also
#3 Probably better answered by a non-GM forum...
If you are using a Ping battery, many of them have a 5A max throughput (charge/regen) on the BMS, so using this battery + regenerative braking will kill your controllers [the BMS limits the current, the controller then has to pass/hold the current if it reaches theshold it will fail]
Do you have a ~48v battery you can try with this?
Cheers

Hi MM, I'm using a 48v 15ah lifepo4,dont know about regen, never set it on the computer,I bought the computer cable but havent used it because there are no instructions for using it and I've read on this forum that using it, messes up the controller. After these controllers are past warranty I'll open them up and replace the weak parts if its worth it.Thanks for the advice Magic!

Howdy
I've read a post or 2 about the cable "messing" up the controller too, but I am still yet to see evidence or enough complaints to warrant this "myth"
You have a new controller anyway, so I would forget anything that goes against using the USB cable.
I for one had great benefits by changing the voltage to 24V!!!
When the bike is back on the road, I will even take video of 48v VS. 24v to show what I am talking about.
To use:
1. Ensure battery power is OFF (battery power NOT connected to wheel)
2. Plug in your cable to the wheel accessory socket, followed by the USB port on your computer
3. Open the PI-200 Software (http://www.goldenmotor.com/e-Bike-DIY/PI200Setup.zip)
4. Click "Connect" --> you should see "connected" bottom left corner of software window
5. Click "GetConfig" to view the current settings should you wish to do so.
6. Make your necessary changes in the software (try 24V :D) --> adjust your regen
7. Important > Click "STORE/SAVE" to save settings. Should read "store/save success"
***EDIT >> It reads "LOAD SUCCESS"
8. Once finished, click "disconnect" and it should now read "disconnect" bottom left of the window
9. Go pop some wheelies.

Sorry for OT but I do have this :-X

Hi Thomasz
Are you saying that your settings are not retained?
Please ensure you are plugging the USB cable into a Windows based PC, and not a hamburger :D
(http://gadgetsin.com/uploads/2010/02/hamburger_usb_flash_drive.jpg)
See attached pics of me just now plugging my USB cable into my PC, then playing around with the settings, saving it, restoring it surprisingly finding my settings retained, then re-setting to factory setting, then changing it back to what I had originally. All no wukin' forries' :D (aussie slang)
No need for an apology! Hopefully there is just something you are possibly doing wrong. I have 4 internal controllers I have tested this on without issues. None of them change.
If you don't click Store/Save, and just disconnect then it won't save anything. Hopefully someone will slam an evident example in my face to prove me wrong, until then I have no doubt the USB software is fine to use, and yet to see it 'mess up' any controllers.
Thomasz, not having a poke, but are you doing step7? Store/Save ?
Also, what does OT mean? I tried looking it up lol

This is odd, I have done this dozens of times with dozens of different controllersand never had this problem. I have however seen some sloppy work making the USB cable. Maybe you need to pop open the USB cable plug to see if all the wires are conected.
Gary
-
Certainly puzzles me thats for sure!
Thanks for posting that Thomasz, I can see very clearly you are using a perfectly good PC :D
Have a look at the wires, but it sorta looks like this controller not retaining the data in its EEPROM.
It's definitely something not common....
-
Thank you for your advice Gary!
I suspect defective interface too.
I checked several controllers (so it's not a controller's problem).
MonkeyMagic ... I hope that you don't think about me as about an idiot ... :P ...... ;D

I see from the video that when you save, there is no change in the message at the bottom confirming the save
I believe that the interface uses one wire for transmit and receive, and has to change I believe the 5v line etc to go between transmit and receive
My loom connected to the wheel is a bit iffy too, and although I can get config, I cant sometimes save, so I wiggle my loom a little and it will save,.....
so the answer...wiggle......:)

Good Eye there Ginge,
The only confirmations that show are "connect success" and "disconect success". There is no "load success" or "save success". I am also wondering what is the popup on the bottom right at the beginning of the video.

MonkeyMagic ... I hope that you don't think about me an idiot already ... :P ...... ;D
No chance! And weird I didn't notice the 'load success' either
All I know is that the green and red wire control the connect/disconnect signal and the yellow contains the hex strings, so if you end up opening the connector test the continuity between your controller connector and the yellow wire connection inside the usb casing.
I opened my usb casing by sliding a razor blade in a U-shape then just bent one half back to reveal the pcb.
Good luck is all I can really say :D

I am also wondering what is the popup on the bottom right at the beginning of the video.
Skype message from my wife ;D

Gawd can't these woman ever leave us alone!
just Kidding..
Heres a quick look at the procedure. I had to set a controller to 36 volt today before shipping so I tought I would video tape it. As you can see I have done this a few times and it is very quick to do and easy to check.

I checked the wires.
They are OK.
I am sure that this is processor failure in my case.
